In today’s climate, businesses need to work smarter.  Part of working smarter includes carefully choosing your partners.  You have to get the best available services without spending more than you need to.  It goes without saying that excellent legal services are worth a great deal to a business.  However, much of the overhead associated with large law firms has nothing to do with excellent legal services.    Large firms have large buildings, large rents, large libraries with large numbers of books.  They have large staffs of attorneys, paralegals, and secretaries, all waiting to “help” on every project.   And all that “help” doesn’t come cheap.   We know large firms.  And we know a better way.

It’s time for a different kind of law firm.  Mainspring Law is a different kind of law firm.  We are a small firm, proudly lacking the excess of large firms.  We know that excellent legal services have nothing to do with a large building and a large staff.   And, recognizing that certain legal matters can only be effectively handled by those having particular expertise, our practice is limited to our expertise in intellectual property law, including patent, trademark, and copyright law.  Our streamlined staff can handle all of your intellectual property law needs.

But it’s not just about our efficiency.  More important is our commitment to individual service.  We know that intellectual property is important to your business.  We also know that you want to know your attorney personally.   Mainspring’s better way encompasses our commitment to knowing you and your business and developing strong personal relationships.  Large law firms can do good work, but large law firms can be impersonal places.  We are different.   At Mainspring, we are proud of the personal relationships we have with our clients.  If personal service in which your work is handled by the guy you know is important to you, it’s time you got to know the Mainspring better way.

We can help you navigate the sometimes treacherous and confusing morass of rules and regulations that keep you from doing the work you want to do.  We can help you deal effectively with the often harsh competitive marketplace.   We are uniquely positioned to partner with you to harness the motivating force in your business—the mainspring.

It’s time for a different kind of law firm.
It’s time for Mainspring Law.

THE MAINSPRING

The clock is one of man’s oldest inventions.  Early on, there were sundials, water clocks, and hourglasses.  Over time, clock makers developed large mechanical clocks which used weights to regulate the motion of the dial.  Innovators of the day took up the problem of building smaller clocks, eventually solving it by the 15th century using coiled springs.  The mainspring is the principal spring that drives a spring-powered clock.  The mainspring is coiled by winding the clock.  It retains the energy it receives from winding by coiling tightly around a center arbor in the clock.  The whole while, the mainspring is trying to unwind to release its pent-up energy.  When it finally does unwind, it transfers its energy to gears in the clocks movement in a regulated, consistent manner, keeping accurate time, and resulting in smaller clocks doing the same work as big, bulky, inefficient clocks.

The mainspring of a clock is a marvel. Its pent-up energy is released in a controlled manner allowing a small clock to work the same as a much bigger clock.  Mainspring Law works the same way, helping you to harness the pent-up power of your ideas and hard work to prosper, even in the face of serious competition.  Whether patents, copyrights, trademarks, we are committed to protecting and promoting of the ideas, products, logos, services, creative works and related intellectual property assets of small and large businesses.
